The story of how collaborative innovation sparked a movement
Aidea emerged from a vision to co-create meaningful AI solutions for education through rapid prototyping, inspired by the innovative Sundai.club methodology. Our organization was founded on the belief that the most impactful educational AI solutions come from bringing together diverse voices—educators, technologists, and business profiles—in collaborative environments where ideas can quickly transform into working AI prototypes.
In May 2024, we partnered with Sundai and the Harvard Graduate School of Education AI Literacy Club, along with LADAL (Leading and Designing Adult Learning), to design our inaugural EdHack. This hands-on AI literacy journey was created specifically for educators to share their real classroom challenges, brainstorm AI-powered solutions, and collaborate with exceptional AI developers from Sundai, management strategists, and Learning Sciences experts.
Our goal was ambitious yet clear: transform classroom problems into actionable AI prototypes within a single day.
The first EdHack brought together the collaborative power of Sundai Human X and the Harvard Graduate School of Education for an intensive 12-hour innovation sprint. Multi-disciplinary teams united educators, technologists, and management strategists to tackle real classroom challenges and build working AI solutions from the ground up.
The impact was immediate and measurable. All prototypes and demos from our first EdHack are live on the Sundai.club site, showcasing solutions that include:
Personalized AI Coach for Student Analytical Writing - Supporting students in developing critical writing skills
AI-Generated Animated Math Explanations - Making complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging
Lesson-to-Game AI Converter - Transforming traditional lessons into interactive learning experiences
AI Coaching for Teacher Lesson Delivery - Empowering educators with real-time instructional support
Through this collaborative approach, we created lasting change by:
Fostering hands-on AI literacy among educators - Moving beyond theory to practical application
Solving real problems faced by students and teachers - Addressing genuine classroom challenges with innovative solutions
Bridging the gap from problem identification to AI-powered solutions - Demonstrating that meaningful educational technology can be built quickly and collaboratively
We extend our deepest appreciation to the incredible individuals who made our vision a reality: Gabriela Torres Vives, Sundai co-founder and Human X lead; Nikolay Vyahhi, EdHack mentor and Sundai hacker; Dan Be Kim, HGSE AI Literacy Club chair and PromtED founder; and Alejandra Coz Fernández, HGSE Leading and Designing Adult Learning (LADAL) co-founder. Their exceptional talent, dedication, and collaborative spirit were instrumental in creating this truly impactful foundation for Aidea.
From this powerful beginning, Aidea continues to champion the collaborative development of AI solutions that genuinely serve educators and learners, always staying true to our roots in rapid prototyping and meaningful co-creation.
